Autumn bliss
We were all out of the house at 7.30am this morning. Mike took me to the Puffin Pool and afterwards we went to Strathpeffer to buy our lunch and then on past Loch Achilty. The ground was covered in frost in parts and dew covered cobwebs filled the bushes of gorse. The fog was laying close to the water not yet warmed by the sun. We stopped and walked to the waters edge. It was quite spooky looking out across the mist covered Loch. Where the sun touched the water was clear with wonderful reflections of the trees with leaves just starting to change colour.
We carried on our journey through Little Scatwell, over the dam and through Strathconon, the longest Strath in Scotland. At the end we parked and walked beside the Loch at Scardroy. A beautiful walk in the warm sunshine surrounded by the deep roars of the rutting deer on the banks opposite. We saw one stag running through the long grass and just managed to spot the others, well camouflaged, among the brown heather.
On the way back the cows were standing in the River.
