The sound of the barley

This might not be the best photograph, but it's special to me. My mum wanted to hear the sound of the wheat but we are about 11 days too early (according to an expert friend of mine). So I drove out of Edinburgh in search of a barley field. We found one that mum could get near at Dirleton. She was a little disappointed about how short the barley is but I think that's what farmers want. As a celebration of our success we had afternoon tea at the Open Arms.

Mum moved to the big city after 70 odd years in the country and now she can't get about on her own and there are certain things she misses. It was the least I could do. My nephew (her grandson) was a great help and good company today. I'm sure his hair doesn't normally look like that!
