Waiting for Matthew
That is the hurricane, approaching Florida as I write this. Wrightsville Beach, like yesterday only the skies have become more ominous, the waves bigger, and the beach has become smaller. The university has sent their students home (or at least away from the campus). Some have moved further east to the beach. Extras include the Oceanic Restaurant (one of the few dining spots along this strand) and one with a pier, preparing to board up its windows to protect from the strong winds that may accompany the rain and high seas.
It is still quite pleasant (high around 80F) but the rain is anticipated to begin this evening. Hopefully the preparation is only that, and the storm will veer off to the east prior to arriving in North Carolina.
I have not decided whether to hang here or hop in the Subaru and head west.
