Benefactions board

Today we sang a lunchtime concert in St Nicholas Church in Alcester.  In the interval I got chatting to a local historian who told me about the Benefaction Board paintings on the wall that date back to Tudor times and show the same dress which we wear for our concerts.

What is particularly interesting is that this shows medical care being given and the character on the right has a wooden leg.  This apparently is the only known contemporaneous painting of a leg prosthesis and attracts historians from all over the country.

Well - some of you may be interested :-)

PS,  it was a phone photo and not brilliant quality
