Autumn Fun: Gourd Fest at the Arboretum
October is a fun month in central Pennsylvania. The trees turn color, the skies often wear that perfect shade of blue, and there are gourds and pumpkins galore.
Nobody does up October like the local Arboretum. This was my first time back since the big photo shoot on the first day of autumn, and I arrived to find gourds and pumpkins everywhere!
They were stacked in containers. They were piled on top of each other. They were even hanging from things, as in this photo taken inside the Glass House at Childhood's Gate.
It's a fun decorative idea and sometime I may have to try this at home, but it's most impressive when done in volume: hanging pots with well organized, concentric rows of multi-colored gourds. Too fun!
The soundtrack for this autumn scene is John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, with Autumn Serenade.
