This fountain is a well known landmark where people agree to meet for all ocassions. As a meeting place it's as well know as the Post Office in Martin Place, Sydney, or Flinders Street Staion in Melbourne. If people who are living in the Hornsby Shire are arranging to meet then all they have to say is " meet you at the fountain " and all parties automatically know where the meeting point is.
