Perseid shower watch

Went out last night with my son to watch the scheduled meteor shower so drove to the Dallas to Knockando road which is quite wild , has no light pollution and is very high as public roads go. I wanted to try out my photography skills on the night sky. Unfortunately I could not get the camera to work on bulb mode but 30 sec busts on the self timer. I need a remote I think. I managed some nearly OK images of the milky way but kept missing the sporadic meteors which were amazing, and my normally unimpressed 16 year old was reasonably enthused. I had been out earlier in the day and got some nice summer images of the town , bees, plants, flowers and a nice shot of Rowan berries which to many ,a good crop, is a sign of a bad winter ahead. Last night though was special as we did not get into the wee hours. Being out under the full majesty of the universe was special , we were stopped by a gamekeeper who thought my tripod and camera was a gun and we were poachers. The stars even the satellites and the sound of the wind made it a very powerful experience even if the photography left a lot to be desired.
