Diary of an Edinburgher

Swallows!

A morning spent on the sofa, watching the birds feeding, waiting for the perfect shot. I texted Rufus's mum, who has our spare bird feeder.

'We had a robin today!'

I got a text back saying, 'I've had scores of swallows and a robin'...

Well, I was so jealous, and immediately asked her to send some of the swallows to me. She then admitted that she hadn't noticed that the spellchecker changed 'sparrows' to 'swallows'. Lol.

Last week our pal suggested that we visit Dalkieth Country Park, so we avoided it yesterday - the weekend - and headed off there today when all the kiddywinks are safely in school.

And what a fabulous place it is now. Millions have been spent on upgrading the stables - now housing flash shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a huge children's playground, and loads of (dog) walks through the woods. We chose the shortest one, through the woods and by the river, half an hour - plenty long enough for me. So I deserved a big scone and a cuppa. Though the blueberry muffins may have been a better choice.

Half an hour's drive - we'll certainly go there again.
