Flying under the sea
The inside of the fabulous LennuSadam or Seaplane Harbour museum in Tallinn. The 'harbour' was initially constructed as part of the naval fortress of Peter the Great in 1916-1917. The hangars are the world's first reinforced concrete shell structure. After almost two decades of legal wrangling, this extraordinary building has been restored as a museum in which a replica of the original Short Sea Planes it housed is hanging.
The photo shows the back of the original Lembit submarine hanging under the vaulted roof. It is the world's only surviving mine-laying submarine of its series dating back to 1930's.
A fantastic place for a visit, for young or older.
