Italian Cypress Trees
Those tall narrow trees on the left are Italian Cypress trees. Native to the Mediterranean area, they're a perfect fit for southern Arizona. They need limited water and are drought-resistant. They can also grow in all sorts of soil, but prefer that which is loose and well draining. Hardy tress for a harsh environment.
What makes this photo unique is that these trees, which usually grow to about eighty feet in height, is that they are out in the middle of nowhere. These dense trees are typically used in landscaping, planted in rows a few feet apart, for privacy.
I couldn't pass up the opportunity to shoot this view of the Tumacocori Mountains with these mighty Cypress tress in the foreground.
