Orchids

There was heavy rain throughout the night and every now and then we would awake to hear it hammering down on the pantiles. In the morning I found that the tool shed had been slightly flooded and had to give it a bit of a dry out.
I spent an hour or so shifting wood ( see yesterday's blip ) before a late brunch. Mid afternoon we got out for a cycle ride. It is very much mid autumn now; the harvest is over, the fields are being ploughed and sowing is in progress here and there. A few weeks ago, there were swathes of gold in among the vivid green of the woodland and copses; now the impression is of a sombre darker brown and forest green.

It has been a good year for orchids. They used to die on me after a year or two but I think I am beginning to learn how what they need. This one looks happy anyway!
