Alexa

My Dear Fellow,

Essentially Alexa is just really clever speaker. In itself, that's great for us because we have only the crappy little docking station (also in the picture) if we want to play music at present.

But it's also huge fun asking Alexa random stuff. And seeing what she makes of it is bizarre. I asked her to play the "Attaboy Clarence" podcast which she translated to the "As Of Oil Trance" podcast or the "Esupport Clarence" podcast. Then this morning she thought we wanted her to play the "Wicked Sally Met Harry Soundtrack". I think that might be the "blue" version of the film.

We've done the obvious stuff. Asking her the time, getting her to set a timer for dinner, finding out about the weather and the news. I was hoping that she could tell you local film times and book tickets, but not yet. However, like an iPhone, you add apps to Alexa so it is just a matter of time before CineWorld or Vue get around to it. She can book train tickets and order dinner though.

More excitingly, there is the "Alexa Fart" app, so she can blow off too, if you're in the mood.

However, I should add that I've noted Alexa frequently ignores me, but Alexa and Er Indoors are like old friends. Sometimes Er Indoors will repeat what I have said WORD FOR WORD and Alexa will happily comply, having given me the cold shoulder just seconds before.

Hurtful. Clearly she doesn't care for the Yorkshire accent.
