Buzzing About

These hummers wag their tail when they are hovering or drinking.  Different species react differently.  It's pretty interesting when you study them.

It has been a very disappointing September when it comes to getting a variety of species passing through my yard on their migration.  Last year I had Rufous, Broad-billed and a rare Lucifer.  This year I've only had the usual Costa's, Anna's and Black-chinned.  Zippy has had lots of company and at times I've been unable to tell him from the other Costa's.  The Anna's and Zippy will likely stick with me through the winter.
