Nice to meet you Genghis

Genghis Khan, known here as Chinggis Khan, is everywhere in Mongolia. There's a Chinggis beer, a Chinggis vodka, statues, pictures, commemorations of everywhere in the country that has a connection to him...

The largest statue is this one. He's riding a horse and the photo was taken from inside the horse's head. Here's some more information about the statue. I've tried to upload an extra but in case it doesn't work, here are some google images.

I also went to Terelj national park which is near the statue. It's pretty and the autumn colours were lovely. But after being in the Gobi last week and seeing very few people, there were far too many tour buses and groups of school children to be a peaceful day out of the city. Terelj is the closest national park to Ulan Bator and is very popular, especially on sunny Saturdays.
