Flower Friday: Violets
Book club this evening and yes, I was burning the midnight oil last night to finish reading the latest novel as usual! Our overall verdict on "The Little Paris Bookshop" by German author Nina George? An enjoyable read with some beautiful descriptions of the French waterways and countryside, and an authentic French "feel" to the characters. Sarah T and I compared progress with our respective frozen shoulders and we all commiserated with Lucy for her broken ankle.
Next read voted for by the majority from a shortlist hurriedly drawn up by me this afternoon is Karen Joy Fowler's "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves". It was a past Booker Prize shortlister, along with my other choices "The Good Apprentice" by Iris Murdoch and "Harvest" by Jim Crace.
