Lifeguards

Took the rental car to the west end of Crete to see "one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in all of Europe". It was indeed spectacular, nestled at the base of some steep hills with deep turquoise waters. The only downside was the hideous winds. They made it hard to enjoy the beautiful setting, even though many were trying. We just tried not to get sand blasted as we walked along the mile-long stretch of soft sand. Once we settled in at the bar, sheltered from the wind, our time there became much more enjoyable.
