Michaelmas

Today is the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels,
a/k/a Feast of the Archangels (Anglican),
a/k/a Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, archangels (Catholic)

I was playing with my ZIG calligraphy pens, just scribbling and making marks, when I remembered it was Michaelmas. Things took off from there.

"Play and gratitude go hand in hand —
play is an expression of gratitude for the great gift of life."
 — Parker J. Palmer (this is the quote in green)

ARCHANGELS: an assortment of facts
In Hebrew, 'El' means God.
MICHAEL: 'Who is like God?'
A prayer to St. Michael the Archangel ("Defend us in the day of battle!") used to be recited at the end of Mass.
GABRIEL: 'God is my strength.'
Gabriel is the angel who appears to the Virgin Mary and announces that she 'will conceive, and bear a son, and name him Jesus.'
URIEL: 'God is my light.'
Uriel is known as the Angel of Poetry.
RAPHAEL: 'God heals.'
In the Book of Tobit (part of the Catholic canon of scripture), the archangel Raphael heals Tobit of blindness.

St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Uriel, St. Raphael, ora pro nobis.
