Heartbreak :-(
Obviously means its the start of the football season!
My team, the 'Mighty' Aldershot, are one of the smaller teams in the football league. 25 years ago we reached the dixxy heights of the English 3rd division, but this success didnt last long as we were soon relegated, and not long after we went bankrupt and were kicked out of the league.
A new team was formed, rising like a phoenix from the ashes, and we have steadily risen from Division 9 to division 4 (which is surprisingly called Division 2!). Today we were drawn away at Wolves in the League Cup. Wolves were relegated from the Premiership last season, and are obviously in a totally different league to us.
We went a goal behind, but the team kept their composure and Michael Rankine scored an equaliser with a bullet header from a corner. 1-1 after normal time - and still 1-1 after extra time brought a penalty shoot out. History shows that the Shots are about as good as the England national team at penalties, and we have lost all of the penalty shoot outs that I can remember except for Hereford away in the conference play-offs a few years ago.
To be level at 6 penalties each was amazing, and losing 7-6 away at Wolves was no disgrace. Well done lads. Very proud of you indeed
