A biologist's treasure

Oh, this made my heart skip a beat! So happy to get the chance this afternoon to snoop around in the insect collection of the Florida State Collection of Arthropods in Gainesville, FL. It was a fun and incredibly productive afternoon, comparing the aphid specimens I collected in ant nests in New York to those that are in the collection. It was a bit of time travel, with some specimens, like this one, preserved almost 100 years ago! And...it looks like I might get to do what would, according to some colleagues, finally make me a true biologist: describe a (or some) new species!
