Sol Mayor, Madrid

Managed a visit to my favourite bar in the heart of Madrid after today's work sessions ended. It was also the first one I entered in the city 36 years ago! I was relieved to see it open today as it had been closed when I came past the last couple of visits . . . due to their holidays I now know.

In other news the El Pais newspaper reports that Spanish socialist party leader is in dire straits after more than half of his shadow cabinet resigned in protest about his intransigence in negotiating a coalition government. It's very much like the position Jeremy Corbyn was in in the UK recently. Sanchez apparently has the support of the grass roots militancy but I'm not sure if he'll emulate Corbyn's survival. Time will tell.
