Shiney onions

Blipfoto I love you! Thank you for 20 incredibly enjoyable minutes faffing around with red onions and a silk top.
Always with a mind to improve my teenage son's diet I decide to try a new salad- Delia Smith's broad bean salad with pancetta and sherry vinegar. Hence the red onions, just as nice as shallots.. Streaky bacon for the pancetta and balsalmic for the sherry vinegar. Truly delicious. Predictably though I see things getting pushed around my son's plate. A wee check when tea's over and a wry smile, one heap of broad beans at the side of the plate-minus the pieces of crispy bacon. I'll be making the salad again though, and I love my photo, I thought the onions were deserving of their bed of silk.
