Bison

There used to be millions of Bison (buffalo) in America but by the time Buffalo Bill had finished providing food for the US army there were reasoned to be only 800 left! The numbers are up again now though and as you drive through Yellowstone Park there are any number of herds to be seen, some very near the road and some from afar on the plains. These are seriously big animals, the bulls can weigh up to 2,000 pounds and make a low, growling sound sending me running back to the car. We have been lucky, today, to see quite a few different animals as we have travelled through this impressive place and the extras show some of the others.
