Kitchen Chaos to Calm

After work primary school gate
Just on time not a moment late
Set off for home and all felt calm
MightyMouse chatting usual charm.

Dumped the bags sent dog outside
Fed the cat then somehow spied
Freezer door open icicles and more
White all over ice galore.

Hacked the ice compact and thick
Ran hot tap might do the trick
Distracted focused I didn’t know
Sink quite blocked water overflow.

Freezer drawers free of icy grip
Unpacked freezer considered my blip
Then noticed water cascading to floor
So much volume pouring out the door.

So mopping water, sweeping ice
Kitchen mood not too nice
Working hard to break ice clumps
Wringing towels large ice dumps.

Cupboard under sink all wet
Out came pans each and every set
Kitchen chaos floor danger zone
Constant ringing mobile and house phone.

Two hours later kitchen calm
Shoulders ache pain of arm
Parents arrive hoping for food
Switch face over to welcoming mood.
