LEVITATING MAN - HOW DID HE DO IT?

Outside the City Hall on Saturday this chap claimed to be levitating. No part of him touched the ground. His hand rested on the pole which was the only connection to the ground.  He was perfectly still until at one point, while I watched, he very slowly and gracefully  flexed his legs and crossed them the other way. 
I am still puzzling:  did he have a seat hidden in his robes? I think I would have seen it when he moved his legs. Still puzzling!
