Taormina

Up at 3,30 am for flight from Manchester.

Happenstance that fellow-Blipper EABlair recognised me on flight. So nice to meet. Got political situation chat at the baggage reclaim, as you do.

Flight fine, getting car fine, drive to Taormina fine till we got to town and the road to hotel closed but no diversion posted so round the tunnels and mountain zigzags several times. In total downpour.

Not allowed to park anywhere as only permits allowed near hotel. Hotel shut when we illegally parked. Eventually other guests let us is with our bags. Owner finally arrived about 4pm, gave us a lock up to park in. Said no breakfasts as kitchen issues. Had no food since a sandwich bought at airport, so wisely decided priority was a gin.

Out for look at Florence Trevelyn Garden, blipped, on way to find dinner. Then, at last, 9 pm, meal.

More rain.

Having a wonderful time, of course, with great company and more gin.
