A day in Cognac

Despite the morning rain, we went to Cognac as our guests had requested. The weather was much better there, with sunshine and blue sky, and after a very nice lunch we did the tour of Chateau Otard, by the river.
The tour was much better than the Hennessy tour which was next door, as it gave a lot of history of the chateau (rather than just how they make the Cognac) including stories of these drawings etched by prisoners who could see the ships on the river Charente through the bars of their cells around the year 1750.
