Tower in a kapok tree Amazon Basin Ecuador

At Sacha Lodge they have built a tower in a huge kapok tree so people can get up to the canopy and see the birdlife (and the monkeys!).

It is a long way to the top, but a great place to watch the birds, so many and such lovely colours. Ecuador doesn't have big birds, but it does have some fascinating small ones. We sat up there for ages and the birds came and went, and the guide told us what they were.
