Up She Flew!

Thanks to the internet, the Beeb and a little, dodgy ferreting about for a less-than-completely 100%, legal stream I was able to enjoy my breakfast while revelling in the magnificent achievement of Katie Taylor emphatically winning her 1st ever Gold medal and Ireland's 1st in 20 years!!

A few tears shed and the occasional dementer's roar at the gogglebox and lots of uplifting joy while watching her perform and listening to the crowd of Irish take over the Olympic Boxing Arena w/their maniacal chanting and singing.

Brought the hairs on the back of my neck to attention.

Unlike the Brits, who have had such a stunning haul of medals that they've begun to sound blasé when the win more, this was rarer than a sunny day in summertime back home and all the more cherished because of that.
