Waiting

It's been a long day starting at five which is when we had to get up to get the 6 o'clock shuttle to the airport so that we could arrive two hours early for our flight.

We waited to check in only to be told we had to check in somewhere else. We waited for immigration. We waited for security. We took off our shoes, our watches, our belts. I was randomly selected for 'extra screening'. Sounds like a prize but it isn't....unless going through a scanner is a prize.

By the time we bought a really bad cup of coffee and found our gate they were announcing that our plane was broken and our 2 hour flight was delayed 2 hours while they got another one. I finished my book and occupied myself watching the cross section of humanity flowing by us.

When we got to San Francisco we waited on the tarmac some more for a gate to become available...and then again after a hike through the terminal to baggage claim...and yet again as we emerged into warm weather in our hiking boots and warm stiflingly hot jackets, this time for the bus to Santa Rosa.

I am now on that bus, with the freezing air blowing on my feet writing this on my phone. I grabbed a picture of the San Francisco skyline and the bay dotted with sailboats (and a little bit of my thumb) from the bus as it crossed the Golden Gate Bridge.

We're looking forward to getting back to Ozzie and my brother Rick and his wife Meg who have been holding the fort for us. You will have to wait just a bit longer for me to upload my pictures and catch up on comments....
