CannyScot's Day

The Kelpies

A lovely day though heavy showers in late afternoon.

We spent the weekend in Falkirk with friends we have known for over thirty years. They are members of the church I was Pastor of in the eighties. We attended the Service this morning and it was a delight to worship with so many friends whom we remember very fondly. I am due to preach there in three weeks time if I am strong enough, but I am confident thatI will be given enough strength to cope.

After a lovely lunch we drove past the Kelpies, a hugely popular sculpture. According to a UK Historical site 'A kelpie is a shape-changing aquatic spirit of Scottish legend. Its name may derive from the Scottish Gaelic words 'cailpeach' or 'colpach', meaning heifer or colt. Kelpies are said to haunt rivers and streams, usually in the shape of a horse'.
