In Memory of Alfie Carlsson

I never met Alfie Carlsson, but he lived in our locale for some sixty years.  Having never married, he  resided in this simple one roomed cottage with no utilities, venturing out for his supplies on an old pushbike. Occasionally he would call in on my Lovely Man's father - they were both born in 1890's so probably had much in common, coming from a fairly harsh agricultural background.  There were rumours he had a stash of money hidden in his house and consequently he was broken into and attacked by youth from the neighbouring town on several occasions.  When he became frail, a neighbouring farmer and his wife attended to his needs until the end.  His small rural block he bequeathed to his neighbour in gratitude. The house is now empty, but I feel the new owners are reluctant to demolish it. There is a sense that Alfie is still about.
My extra is the fuller pic of the building sitting in the lush pasture of Alfie's block with a backdrop of the surrounding orchard.
