Silent Scream
Mark thought it might be fun to take his Nana off-roading. :)
My Aunty May, cousin Ann, Ann's husband Larry, and my cousin Mark arrived yesterday afternoon. Mark had visited us recently, but we haven't seen the others since 2005. Wonderful that they've come all the way from near Toronto to visit! My mum, dad, me, Aunty May, Uncle John and their kids Marlene and Jack came to Canada in 1957, from Glasgow to Kitimat. What a change that was. Aunty May and family moved to Richmond Hill, near Toronto in 1958, when Aunty May was pregnant with Ann. Mark thought it would be great to see Kitimat and Aunty May agreed, so three of them flew into Terrace from Toronto and Mark drove there from Fort Mac. They visited Kitimat, then flew to Vancouver for a night. Mark drove down and picked the others up at the airport. They managed to have dinner with our daughter, son-in-law, and Krista, and I was happy they were able to see them too, even if it was a quick visit. They took the ferry over here yesterday afternoon.
We decided to do some sightseeing around Salt Spring, so first we went up Mount Maxwell in Mark's 4-wheel drive. I thought the road had been improved since we'd last gone up there a few years ago. No such luck! It definitely felt like we were off-roading. It was worth the rough ride though, because the view from the top is incredible, over the Fulford valley from one look-out and over Burgoyne Bay and towards Vancouver Island from another. Such a beautiful place we live in, and the relatives agree. We then went into Ganges and had a good look around the town before heading home for dinner. A fun day together!
