Beyond the land

We walked way out beyond the land at low low tide to see the birds at the water's edge, and to listen to them. Oystercatchers, cormorants, curlews, redshanks, plovers, sanderlings, gulls of various sorts (we're not good at gulls), eider ducks, goosanders. And further off, Musselburgh's huge community of sea-going swans. Seeing a squad of them take off and fly up-river together was an unforgettable experience.
