Joys of caravanning

This object has caused much head scratching and several hours on my back under the car.
For those who don't recognise it, it's a seven pin trailer socket which powers the lights on trailers and caravans. Ours has been getting more and more difficult to connect and for the final part of our last trip I almost gave up. Well protected  and tucked away out of sight under the rear of then car, it had somehow got broken. Replacing should have been easy, but ---.
The fixing screws and bracket were rusted solid and while the socket is an off the shelf item, the bracket isn't, I had to make one.
In a final stroke of stupidity, I assembled two pieces in the wrong order and then had to spend an extra  hour putting it right.
