Textural

I once read a thing by David Hockney, he was looking at an 18th/19th century painting of some people skating and he noted that the marks of the skates on the ice in the painting were being superseded by the actual cracks in the old paint. He ordered a print of it, and when it arrived it had got creased in the post which added another layer of markings.
This reminds me of that.
