West Norwood blips

Dinosaurs and costumes...

... but neither are my blip.

I went to the Central Museum of Mongolian Dinosaurs today. Mongolia is second only to the US as the place where the most dinosaur fossils have been found. It's a very small museum and the main feature is the full skeleton of a Tarbosaurus Bataar. The name translates as Alarming Lizard Hero which I love and think would make a good name for a rock band. The Tarbosaurus Bataar is a close relation of the Tyranasaurus Rex.

I also went to the Mongolian costume museum which is also tiny. It has examples of traditional Mongolian clothes from different parts of the country as well as traditional games and household items. It's part of a costume centre that sells beautifully made clothing in traditional styles.

Both museums charged more than the entrance fee for taking photos. While I was tempted to blip a dinosaur the lighting in the museum was bad and I didn't think I'd be able to get a good image. So instead here's the view from the bar on the 23rd floor of the Sky Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Ulan Bator. I went drink beer and watch the sunset but it was cloudy. So I had more beer.

I'm off tomorrow morning on a trip to the Gobi desert. I'm not expecting to be able to blip at all so will have to backblip when I get back on the 29th. I just hope two fully charged camera batteries are enough for the week as I'm not sure there'll be any opportunities for charging!
