A House That Once Was

There was a lot of controversy in our city about this house. It is city-owned, and the city wanted to tear it down. But, it is a very old house, and the historians wanted it to be saved. Obviously, you can see who won the argument.

But, it was a different sort of teardown. Usually, they bring in the big machinery, and within a day...the structure is down. But, this time, they brought in a salvage company...and it took them weeks to take it down. It took them that long because they were trying to save all the wood, the trim, and the windows.

All that is left is the chimney, and the staircase leading upstairs.
