London Tourists
Yesterday my cousins Jerry and Claudia arrived from Michigan and today I took them to London for the day. It was their first time in England and so we all agreed that a double decker bus trip was the best way to get an overview of the whole city. It was a beautiful sunny blue sky day, but also very hot for mid September in England!
The bus trip was great but traffic was heavy all day so it was extremely slow going. We took a break at Westminster and walked across the river and found some lunch. We continued south of the river and got off again at Tower Bridge so that Jerry could visit HMS Belfast. Claudia and I decided to let him do that by himself and we waited for him at the riverside coffee bar right next to the ship. We had a terrific view of Tower Bridge as we sat on the rooftop terrace!
Although we weren't able to finish the whole tour, Jerry and Claudia very much enjoyed what they did see and I think are looking forward to more visits in the future. This is their 'taster trip'. The bus tour tickets could have been used for 24 hours (with a special offer to extend to 48 hours for no extra fee), so it was a pity that we weren't staying in London to do the rest the next day. But with only two full days in the UK, we have another adventure planned for tomorrow!
