Stornoway Harbour from Lews Castle

Lady Luck temporarily deserted us as we waited to board the ferry to Stornoway yesterday evening when His Lordship discovered he no longer had his camera - not in his pocket and not in his bag. Panic stations. He just had time to dash around the galleries and shops we had been in, and the hotel, but it was not to be found. The ferry sailed with His Lordship but not with his camera.
It was this Lady in one of her sleepless nights who thought of a place that hadn't been explored and when we phoned this morning, there it was. It will be forwarded to Edinburgh at the weekend.

It is a pity that when my mother queued at the anxiety and worry counter to obtain the relevant genes for me, her first born, she was handed the extreme ones by mistake. Had I received the correct ones, I might have been prevented from worrying that the sea crossing in what I thought of as a stiff wind ( which a local described as a breeze) was going to be rough, but was in fact incredibly smooth.

This morning it is a tad chillier and windier than we have experienced lately but is not yet in the league of scarves and gloves. We had a walk in the grounds of Lews Castle and a visit to the beautiful new museum there. As a reward for finding HL's camera, he bought me a lovely book with paintings of Harris.

Now ensconced in the art centre of An Lanntair, we are awaiting the bus to Tarbert and the next stage of our whistle stop tour.
