Tuesday: Seven Eleven

One of the things that I most enjoy about living in a new place is that what is commonplace to everyone else is fascinating to us. Like this Seven Eleven. We find ourselves oddly drawn to them.

It's been quite a long day. I drove out to Abbotsford (about an hour south of Vancouver) this morning to attend an event. Once it was done, I was heading back and noticed a sign for the town centre (such as it was) so took a little detour. It was a normal little town, low level, strip malls, but, to my eye, very different from what we get at home. The weather was perfect and my ipod was in perfect alignment with the environment (think Mavis Staples, Creedence Clearwater Revival etc). I just had this overwhelming feeling of being very happy here and life being very good.

Back in Vancouver, I had a work dinner this evening at the 'Gotham Steakhouse'. As the name would suggest, don't even bother going there if you are vegetarian. I'm not, but I don't particularly like big slabs of meat (i.e. steaks). The ambience and company were very good though.
