my mother always sends good cards. she always does good gift wrap, too - she says she likes to look under a tree or on a mantelpiece and know which card/gift is the one from her. i try and do the same, tho i'm selfish enough to wish people would acknowledge the coolness, too (in that respect, thanks to himself for commenting that i give good gift, tho if he hadn't been impressed at the gift in question i might have had to give up for good!). top tip for the truly clueless: i *love* penguins.

had a chat tonight with a friend i've not seen in close to a year, and not spoken to or even emailed in months - bad me, and bad her. life took over in both our cases. but it was good to catch up - if i become a lady of enforced leisure in the new year, hopefully we'll get a chance to have the lunch (on her expense account) that we've discussed since she took this job last spring.
