Vernazza

Its been quite a day - and very hot.  at 6pm tonight it was still 29 deg.
We took the train to Corniglia around mid morning, walked millions (no kidding) of steps from the station up to the village. Quaint, perched on the side of the hill, tiny lanes, little shops selling all sorts, ice cream places, which we sampled. (reminded us of Croatia and their ice cream outlets).

By this time it was very hot, with lots of water on board we set of to walk to Vernazza  (see map) - told it would take one & half hours......holy hell, was it ever taxing and with extreme heat to contend with.  Lots of walkers, all ages and fitness, walking along cliffs up, down and and around, through vines and olive trees, nice shade, teetering on rocks at times, sizzling in the open. The track very rocky and sometimes stepped - we did pretty well really, but I was pooped by the time we got there.  OMG !!!!  What a stunning place - the photos I've got are amazing (if I say so myself) - I've blipped the village as we walked towards it, the extra is Corniglia from the track and the other two are the sunset tonight from Levanto where we are staying.  And very pleased that we are, as not nearly as busy and manic as the popular villages.

After the sunset shooting, we called in to one of the many eateries and had a pasta meal (and a wee gin, as I definitely deserved it)

Must sleep now
