Cog Railway Aspens

We booked the cog railway which climbs out of Manitou Springs to the top of Pike's Peak, an elevation of 14,115 feet.  At the top the views were stunning but the air was rare and cold.  The brisk wind added to the feeling of cold.
Train passengers are only allowed about 40 minuets at the top due to the possible affects of Oxygen deprivation. But if you drive your own car to the top you could stay as long as you like.  It makes me wonder how many people get sick up there without even knowing why.
The trees in the shot are Aspens that have already started to change into their fall colors.  The clear sky let the sun light them up like they were on fire. It (the picture) was taken about halfway up and at that altitude summer is over and fall is in full swing.  At the top of the mountain summer only lasts for about 3 weeks in late June and early July.
