Grain  has to be measured at  below the maximum moisture content if it is to be sold successfully without the deduction of drying expenses by the buyer.  It is bad news if it is measured at  17 per cent or over so those with dryers spend many hours drying their corn before the lorry comes to transport it.  But often the corn is harvested without any need of drying if the weather is dry and sunny.
