Butterfly haven
A milkweed butterfly , but not the monarch. This is a viceroy, a monarch mimic. I do remember both butterflies being more common when I was a kid, but that could be because I spent a lot of weekends at my Aunt and Uncle's farm. It wasn't a working farm but a weekend place with a pond and lots of field not being worked so there was a lot of milkweed. I tried to plant asclepias this year and failed. Their host plants though are willows and aspens and the milkweed is nectar plant. Boodles too apparently, he was having a great time on that one fluid. The extra is a probably should be cropped a little pic from our PM walk, mist in the westering sun.
