Key to Enlightenment
Well going to Key monastery must afford one some advantages one would think.
A staggeringly beautiful monastery, perched oh so elegantly on a rocky hillock. Home to nearly 250 monks, who have periodically had to repel the Mongols - but seem to mainly enjoy volleyball today. We passed through, swiftly savouring the bird wheeled views from the top and exploring the rooms containing many archives of old writings and manuscripts - this is one of the main strongholds for old Buddhist texts.
We moved on to the head of the valley today - to Lossar, ready to head over the pass tomorrow - to wend our way down into the Kullu valley again - and leave the Spiti behind (until next time it will have to remain in our hearts, minds and memory cards)
