not MonoMonday (seasonal)

I rarely do challenges - Anniemay is the challenger in our house.  But I’m stuck for an idea today, so why not?  I wander round the garden and spot an apple lying on the ground.  A windfall; very seasonal.

I’m happy with the shot, but when I come to convert it to mono it just doesn’t work.  I drag sliders here and there, add filters, but nothing compares with the simplicity of what I first saw.  Faffing reduces it to a pig’s ear.  Which itself is probably seasonal somewhere in the world, but being vegetarian, just doesn’t do it for me.  The image is nearly all mid-tones - very short on blacks and whites - which is nearly always a prerequisite for mono.

So I abandon the MonoMonday challenge and stick with this image.  But I’m glad I tried because it did make me look and even failing provides a useful lesson.  A bit of a windfall, as it turns out.  And I make a list of other challenges to not do when I’m stuck for ideas.
