Davaar Island from Davaar House
(or ... Large Rock with Small Ferry)
14.8C and dull to start, then rain before lunch and through the afternoon. Moderate SSE breeze then light Southerly, then light Westerly.
Grocery shopping over by mid morning. We left Maeve the Deerhound at home again.
We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach to Carskey Bay but the rain had set in on the way South so despite waiting a while to see if the rain stopped we got no beach walk today.
On the way to Southend we had checked the farm stand for Little Farm. It has to be said it was quite empty.
In the afternoon Apothecary7 carried on with her latest painting. Maeve had 3 boiled eggs chopped into her dish with the usual food.
The most recent BBC website forecast had said the rain would be gone by 5pm. At 5.30pm we drove round to the Doirlinn car park and set off with Maeve for a walk. We got about a quarter of a mile when we noticed a shower coming over Campbeltown loch. We went back to the car, but the rain arrived before we got under cover. We waited for a while until the shower passed then left Maeve to snooze while we walked round to the 70 mile marker (or 30 miles if coming the other way) on the Kintyre Way before we turned to come back to the car. Not long after we had passed Davaar house we saw one of the CalMac ferries sailing along, we assume heading for a maintenance visit or a refit. Possibly to the yard on the Isle of Bute that undertakes such work. It was most likely the Gigha ferry.
All our soggy clothes and jackets were washed.
Dinner was late.
