Down On The Farm

Back Blip

Our camera club were very kindly invited to visit the farm that belongs to one of our members. It has been in her husband's family for many generations and although it is only a few miles from where we live, it was like stepping back in time.

The farmhouse and outbuildings had retained all the original features, whereas the yard was an eclectic mix of new and old machinery. Apparently, her husband doesn't like to throw anything away, which made for some fantastic photographic subjects.

We were then treated to a trailer ride around the fields, to enable us to photograph the cattle. The fields were also full of hares and lapwing chicks, which was a really special surprise.

To make our ride more comfortable, we were provided with hay bales to sit on. It didn't take long for the cattle to realise this and they started to chase the trailer. As soon as the tractor stopped, the older cows began to eat our 'seating'. The calves were too wary but it gave us a chance to take their photos.

I've posted an extra to give you an idea of how close they were :)
