Merrick Hill Race

I entered this race without much thought last month. Last week I discovered it was an event in the British Hill Racing calendar. So when I pitched up at Glen Trool, I was not surprised to see a load of stick insects in club vests. I was not one of them

The weather was perfect, perhaps a little hot.

The pic was taken near the start as we ventured up the first hill through waist high bracken. It was as grim as it looks, but short lived and soon flattened out for some good running.

I've no idea what place I came but it wasn't last! 2hr02mins on the watch, 13.7km, 987m ascent.
